Looking for social media adoption and usage stats?

Here’s our Q4 2021 update:

Since the pandemic, 43% of internet users are spending more time on social media. As one example, Instagram saw 43% growth in traffic last year and today has over 1.2 billion users.

From Avant Healthcare:

  • 90% of physicians use social media for personal reasons

  • 65% of physicians use social media for professional reasons; most popular sites are Twitter and YouTube

From Digital Health Coalition:

  • 100% of HCPs are open to industry and/or product messages on social media

  • 87% of HCPs have taken an action after viewing social media content

  • 76% of pharma companies plan to spend more on social media content for HCPs this year

Regarding medical information, 64% of millennials believe social media is effective for medical information requests and 52% use social media for information requests with non-pharma companies.

Lastly, here’s a thoughtful quote from Netbase:

Social media is relational, meaning it’s give and take. Users don’t want to feel like they’re being sold to every time they interact with your brand. Of course, they understand that your product or service is the common denominator in the relationship, but providing added value through human interest stories can take your brand’s social feeds to a whole new level.
