Let's level up your pre-call planning. Here are 3 ways to use social media for better interactions:

1. Use a controversial tweet to spark a new discussion
If you're running out of topics, one way to spark a new discussion is to share a controversial tweet with your HCP.

For example: "I believe you follow Dr. Prasad, correct? I just read his tweet on myocarditis risk and it's slightly controversial. What are your thoughts?"

This approach can start a scientific debate with your HCP. This demonstrates your value and helps you get more insights.

2. Use a thought-provoking tweet to revive a discussion
If you're in a meeting and your HCP starts to look annoyed or bored, it’s time to change tactics. One idea is to bring up a thought-provoking tweet from someone that your HCP knows or respects.

Does your HCP look like this? Time to reset!

For example: "I think you know Dr. West, right? I just saw a tweet from him on patients with PD-L1 and he had an interesting perspective. What’s your opinion?"

This approach can renew your HCP's interest and change the energy of the conversation. This preserves your relationship and the likelihood of future interactions.

3. Scan tweets to find shared personal interests
Breaking: HCPs are people with interests beyond healthcare. Sometimes, they just want to talk about their favorite sports and activities. It's good to encourage these interests from time to time.

For example: "Dr. Katz, I saw you're a Peloton fan and I'd love to ride with you sometime. What's your personal best?"

This approach can help you find shared personal interests with your HCP. This makes you memorable and makes your relationship stronger.

For your next interaction, a few helpful tips:

Follow your HCPs on social media to understand what they care about and how they think. Make sure you’re aware of trending topics and issues.
Scan your HCP’s tweets from the past month or so. Make a note of any personal interests to discuss in your interaction.
Keep 2-3 interesting and relevant tweets in your back pocket to bring up if/when necessary.
